How to find satellites above you tonight
Search for a place, use device location, or enter coordinates. The tool propagates current orbital elements with SGP4 and checks which catalog objects rise above your local horizon. The interactive horizon view helps you understand where a satellite is expected to appear and how high it may climb.
A result marked as likely visible is a model-based opportunity, not a promise. The current logic requires at least 10 degrees of elevation, a sunlit spacecraft and a local solar altitude of -6 degrees or lower. Clouds, haze, city lights, satellite attitude and precise apparent magnitude are not modeled.
Why some satellite passes are easy to see
Satellites do not produce their own visible light. They are usually seen because they reflect sunlight while the observer is already in a darker part of Earth. That is why many good viewing opportunities occur after sunset or before sunrise.
Orbital data and accuracy
Current positions are calculated from public CelesTrak OMM/GP elements using satellite.js and SGP4 propagation. CelesTrak’s current orbital data is refreshed independently of this page, and TagBuilder Space keeps a last-good cache if a provider is temporarily unavailable rather than inventing replacement values.
